Professional tax, FY 2026-27
States with no professional tax
We found no professional tax on salaries in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. An ordinance also repealed Odisha's professional tax from 1 April 2026, though a later bill was reported in September 2026.
Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan: none that we could find
Professional tax is a state tax, so it exists only where a state law levies it. We found no such law for salaried employees in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. That is harder to prove from an official source than a tax that exists, so if your payslip shows professional tax, ask your payroll team which state's schedule it uses.
An ordinance repealed Odisha's professional tax with effect from 1 April 2026, and a bill was reported passed in September 2026 that we have not seen: professional tax in Odisha.
No professional tax leaves up to ₹208 a month more than in Maharashtra
New regime, basic at 50% of CTC, PF on full basic. Maharashtra charges ₹2,500 a year on these salaries.
