About MyRealSalary
MyRealSalary works out take-home pay and shows every line of the arithmetic, so you can check it against your payslip. It covers the United Kingdom, India, New Zealand, Australia and Canada (outside Quebec).
Who runs it
MyRealSalary is run by Tinku T., an independent publisher based in India. If you need the legal name and postal address, for example to exercise your privacy rights, email us and we will give them to you.
How the figures are checked
Each country has its own calculation engine, written from that country's published rules:
- United Kingdom: HMRC and GOV.UK, and the Scottish Parliament for Scottish income tax. How we calculate
- India: the Income-tax Act 2025, the Budget 2026 papers, EPFO and Ministry of Labour notifications, and state professional tax schedules. How we calculate
- New Zealand: Inland Revenue's payroll specification and PAYE tables, the ACC earners' levy regulations and Employment New Zealand. How we calculate
- Australia: the Australian Taxation Office, the Federal Register of Legislation, the Budget papers and the Fair Work Commission. How we calculate
- Canada: the Canada Revenue Agency, including its T4127 payroll formulas, Employment and Social Development Canada, Finance Canada and provincial and territorial governments. How we calculate
Every build runs each engine's tests first, including hand-worked examples, and stops if any result is wrong. The calculator in your browser is a separate version of the same engine, and in testing it is checked against the engine on at least 600 random cases for each country. Each How we calculate page lists every source and the date the rules were last checked.
Corrections
If you find a mistake, email [email protected] with the country, the pay and the options you used. We fix confirmed mistakes and note them in the changelog on that country's How we calculate page.
Independence
MyRealSalary is an independent website. It is not part of, endorsed by or connected with any tax authority or government body.
How the site is funded
The calculators are free to use. If adverts are shown, they are served by Google and labelled "Advertisements".
