A lakh is a hundred thousand, a crore is a hundred lakh
Indian numbers group digits in twos after the first thousand: ₹1,00,000 is one lakh (one hundred thousand) and ₹1,00,00,000 is one crore (ten million). So 10 LPA is ₹10,00,000 a year, 50 LPA is ₹50,00,000, and 100 LPA, or ₹1 crore a year, is ₹1,00,00,000.
An LPA figure is usually your CTC, not your take-home pay
When a job offer says 12 LPA, it usually means a cost to company of ₹12 lakh a year. Some of that is never paid as salary, and some is variable pay you receive only if you earn it. Ask whether a figure is CTC, gross or fixed pay before you compare offers. What CTC means.
